  • Magnesium is a mineral that is important to a range of bodily functions; these functions include the production of energy‚ proteins‚ and DNA. It can help keep your heart healthy by working to prevent the formation of blood clots. The mineral may also assist you in maintaining bone strength‚ improving communication between nerve cells‚ and preventing harmful free radicals from causing damage to your body.

You can obtain magnesium by consuming a diet rich in green vegetables‚ such as spinach. Legumes (like peanuts)‚ nuts‚ seeds‚ and whole grains also contain magnesium. While it’s possible to obtain sufficient magnesium through a nutritious diet‚ research has shown that a high percentage of the American population fails to take in enough magnesium on a daily basis. In addition‚ gastrointestinal disorders or other health issues may interfere with your body’s ability to absorb magnesium. Symptoms of a magnesium deficiency include loss of appetite‚ fatigue‚ and weakness.

If your magnesium levels are low‚ your doctor may recommend a magnesium supplement‚ such as Pure Encapsulations’ Magnesium (Glycinate)‚ to restore your magnesium levels to their normal values. These vegetarian capsules can help you top up your magnesium levels‚ while being less likely causing unwanted side effects. When compared to other types of the mineral‚ magnesium glycinate has a lower chance of causing you to suffer from embarrassing and inconvenient loose stools.

In addition to the magnesium essential to many physiological functions‚ Magnesium (Glycinate) Capsules also contain vitamin C; the vitamin aids your body’s absorption of magnesium.

One bottle of Pure Encapsulations’ Magnesium (Glycinate) provides a three-month supply‚ when taken at the recommended dosage of one capsule daily.

Pure Encapsulations seeks to formulate and manufacture high-quality‚ hypo-allergenic dietary supplements. Quality control during the formulation and manufacturing process is paramount. All Pure Encapsulations products are made with the most bioavailable ingredients possible.

Are There Any Potential Side Effects Or Precautions?
Adverse effects from magnesium supplementation are rare when taken as directed‚ but can include gastrointestinal upset and diarrhea. Individuals with kidney disease should not take magnesium supplements without
consulting a doctor. Magnesium glycinate is less likely to cause loose stools. If pregnant or lactating‚ consult your physician before taking this product.

Are There Any Potential Drug Interactions?
Magnesium should be taken separately from bisphosphonate medications. Caution should be taken with concurrent use of potassium-sparing diuretics. It may also be contraindicated with certain antibiotics. Consult your
physician for more information.

    Corn is an ingredient

I have not purchased Magnesium by Pure Encapsulations because it contains corn.

    Pros

I like the glycinate form of magnesium.

    Cons

I don't like that the Vit C is derived from corn since most corn is grown from gmo seeds. For the price I feel the corn would be organic at least.

    not for constipation

My healthcoach told me this product helps with constipation. It didn't for me. I should have trusted the reviews that said nothing about constipation. A biochemist told me it's Magnesium citrate that helps with constipation.

    Magnesium Glycinate is great!

Magnesium (Glycinate) by Pure Encapsulations is a great product. It is helping me with my chronic constipation.

    Pros

Two well educated professionals have now recommended Pure Encapsulations to me over my lifetime. One year ago and I totally forgot about Pure and then just last week I was recommended to try one of their product and it is working well.

    Cons

    Seizures decreased

My natural doctor has had me on Magnesium by Pure Encapsulations (as well as several others) to work on my seizure issues. I have improved significantly in the last few months...from having a crash about every month, to just a few minor episodes a week!

    Mixed Feelings

I have trusted pure encapsulations for a number of years, and I have used this very product with good results. However, recently I have noticed that all the pure encapsulations products that I have purchased have smelled like glue. Not just the inside of the bottles, but the capsules themselves. I have not noticed this with any other brand, including Thorne, Country Life, Nutricology, and others. I have contacted pure encapsulations about the matter, and I am awaiting a response. However, in the meantime, I am disappointed in this product because frankly, the distinct glue smell is very offputting. Although Thorne does not have a magnesium glycinate product (of which I am aware), I have switched back to Thorne magnesium citramate, and I am happy with that product as an alternative.

    Pros

Has worked well in the past

    Cons

      Recent glue smell of product

    We All Need Magnesium

Since taking magnesium I feel so much better. No one eats the foods or prepares their food in the way we could get more vitamins and minerals we need. I like the quality and ease of ordering supplements that are delivered right to my door.

Does it matter is you take these Pure Encapsulations Magnesium glycinate supplements in the morning or before bedtime and is it okay to take other supplements with it or is it better by itself? Thank you!

    • Rosa on 9/26/2014

Hello, thank you for contacting PureFormulas. The dosage explains that Pure Encapsulations recommends 1-4 capsules per day, in divided doses with meals.

  • Q barbara crane on 9/01/2014

I had a real sensitivity to magnesium last year (terrible diarrhea). So I stopped all magnesium. Now I feel the effect and want to re-introduce it but in VERY small doses. I am told Magnesium Glycinate is the best one to try. Do you make this in very low dosage, so I can feel safe and comfortable when starting?

    • Raisa on 9/02/2014

Hello Barbara, thank you for contacting PureFormulas. Magnesium (glycinate) by Pure Encapsulations has 120 mg per capsule, which is 30% of the daily recommended for Magnesium. This is one of the lower dosages that we carry. Do you happen to know how much your were taking before?
