In each i-Throid capsule by RLC Labs contains 7.5 milligrams of iodide from potassium iodide. Iodine is a trace mineral that his crucial to the body’s overall health. This means that although it is essential that you get iodine from the diet‚ only a small (trace) amount is necessary for proper functioning. i-Throid™ delivers the optimal amount of elemental iodine in a vegetable capsule for easy ingestion‚ optimal bioavailablity and rapid release.

What is Iodine?

In the body‚ iodine’s primary responsibility is to bind with tyrosine in order to create thyroid hormones. Although it is best known for this role‚ it is involved in other important processes as well. For example‚ iodine is needed for cells to convert food into energy.

Iodine Deficiency

The body cannot make iodine‚ so it is essential that you get enough of this trace mineral through your diet. Although it is found in many foods‚ such as cheese‚ yogurt‚ shellfish and seaweed‚ many Americans are deficient in iodine. The fact of the matter is‚ if you don’t have enough iodine in your body‚ you won’t be able to make enough thyroid hormones. If the deficiency is left untreated‚ this will eventually lead to an enlarged thyroid‚ which presents itself as a goiter.

Prior to 1920‚ iodine deficiency was common in northern states. It is for this reason that northern American states and most of Canada was referred to as the “goiter belt.” Today‚ it is estimated that as much as 40 percent of the population may be deficient in iodine.

If you are deficient‚ it can be difficult to determine. Iodine deficiency is diagnosed across populations‚ not specific to individuals. It’s done by measuring the amounts of iodine in urine samples across a specific population. Anything under the median level is considered a deficiency.

Iodine Testing

Since there aren’t any tests to determine whether you have enough iodine in your body‚ it is important to monitor how much iodine you are taking in from your diet. You don’t necessarily need to count (that would probably be impossible anyway)‚ but you should know that you are getting iodine from a reliable source every single day.

RDA of Iodine

The recommended daily allowance (RDA) was set to prevent specific diseases and disorders related to iodine deficiency‚ so it is not necessarily in place as a guideline for optimal dosing. Studies have shown that the body will likely benefit from getting more iodine than the RDA on a daily basis. That’s why i-Throid contains 7.5 milligrams of iodine – so you can be sure you’re getting enough of this trace element to support optimal health.

      Recommended by my naturopath

      from Michigan on 12/13/2021
I was happy to find this exact product here that I have been taking for about three years (when I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer) since my naturopath includes it in his Holistic Cancer Action Plan. He discussed with me that iodine is an anti-cancer mineral. It's recommended as an anticarcinogenic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

      Pros

It's exactly the iodine that my trusted doctor recommended.

Iodine is needed by every cell in the bo

      from Kailua, HI on 6/11/2020
This was prescribed to me by my ND. There is a lot of research about iodine and endocrine health, especially thyroid, breast and uterine health. I suggest starting out very slow as iodine displaces the toxic bromide in your body that competes with iodine receptors. Drink tons of water and increase sea salt intake if you experience acne that is caused by bromide detox. Sea salt will bind to bromine and assist kidneys in eliminating the bromine.

      Pros

      Affordable Effective

      Great source of iodine

from LOS ANGELES CA on 8/10/2019
It's a great source of iodine if you have a deficiency. I don't eat iodine-rich foods regularly, so this is a great way to get some. Just make sure not to take too much. That can also cause a world of problems.

      Pros

      Quality and potent iodine source

      Cons

      Not much
