These Magnesium Glycinate Capsules by Klaire Labs can help the body convert
carbohydrates, fats and protein to energy – because that is part of what
magnesium does for the body. It also maintains and regulates vascular tone, acts
as a catalyst in thousands of enzymatic processes, helps prevent calcification
of soft tissue and is critical to proper bone formation. But that’s not all
magnesium does: It also regulates the metabolism of calcium and potassium,
assists in nerve transmission and conduction and facilitates muscle constriction
and relaxation.
To optimize absorption, this formula that was designed by Klaire Labs
combines magnesium with amino acid glycine to form a highly bioavailable and
well tolerated compound. Some people have trouble taking magnesium because it
can be harsh on the stomach. This formula eases the worry for even the most
sensitive people.
What is Magnesium?
Magnesium is an essential mineral for your overall health – actually, it is
the fourth most abundant mineral found in the body. You’ll find about half of
the body’s total magnesium levels stored in the bone. The other half is
distributed amongst the many cells, tissues and organs of the body. Although
you’ll find only about one percent of the body’s total magnesium store in the
blood, magnesium’s role in the blood is very important – and the body works very
hard to keep it there. Green vegetables and spinach are great sources of
magnesium, but if you don’t get enough of these healthy vegetables in your diet,
you may need to supplement with magnesium capsules, such as these by Klaire
Labs. The magnesium you consume is absorbed through the intestines and excreted
through the kidneys.
Symptoms of a Magnesium Deficiency
Most dietary surveys indicate that Americans on average do not get enough
magnesium in their diets. Because of the importance of this essential mineral,
this may very well be an epidemic. If the body doesn’t have enough magnesium
stored, it may be exposed to cardiovascular diseas or immune system dysfunction.
In a healthy individual, about one-third or one-half of the magnesium
consumed is actually absorbed into the body. This number declines significantly
if you have a gastrointestinal disorder that impairs absorption, such as Crohn’s
disease. Chronic or excessive diarrhea or vomiting may also cause a magnesium
deficiency, as can certain medications, diabetes and alcohol abuse. If the
kidneys aren’t functioning properly, they cannot be expected to secrete adequate
amounts of magnesium.
When your body’s magnesium levels first start dropping, you might experience
nausea, fatigue, vomiting, weakness or loss of appetite. If the deficiency goes
unchecked, your troubles will only get worse. You may experience muscle
contractions and cramps, numbness, tingling, seizures, personality changes,
coronary spasms and abnormal heart rhythms. At this point, most people are
diagnosed with a deficiency and are treated; however, if that doesn’t happen,
one could also experience a calcium deficiency. It is important to note that
these symptoms alone cannot be used to identify a magnesium deficiency. If you
think you may be deficient, contact your healthcare practitioner for a blood
test.

An important vitamin to my health recovery
By j from PA on March 28, 2011
Almost all of the vitamins that I take are integral to creating and maintaining the Methylation Cycle. I have been taking 4 Magnesium every day for over 2 years. My blood tests reveal that I'm still too low on Magnesium and I should take 6 per day, it I could afford it I would! I would be very unhealthy without it, the Magnesium helps my muscles to not cramp up. My Dr. said it is also good for maintaining a healthy blood glucose.
I would recommend this item to a friend.
