Pharmax’s Finest Pure Fish Oil contains high concentrations of EPA and DHA,
but has virtually no fish oil odor or taste.
What are EPA and DHA?
EPA and DHA are both essential fatty acids. EPA stands for eicosapentaenoic
acid and DPA stands for docosahexaenoic acid. Both are categorized as Omega-3
fats, which are most commonly found in cold water fish. EPA and DHA are
considered highly unsaturated fats because they contain 5 and 6 double bonds on
their structural chains. EPA and DHA can also be characterized as
polyunsaturated fats, which play a very important role in our bodies.
EPA and DHA, such as that found in Finest Pure Fish Oil by Pharmax, can be
taken to help improve brain and retina function. These fatty acids are building
blocks of the brain and retina’s tissues. In fact, studies have shown that it
may even be essential to get enough DHA from food in order to maintain healthy
levels in the retina and maintain normal eye function. Fish oil can also help
form neural transmitters, such as phosphatidylserine, which is crucial for
healthy brain function.
Health Benefits of EPA and DHA
After they are ingested, EPA and DHA are converted by the body into
hormone-like substances called prostaglandins, and then they get to work
regulating healthy cardiovascular function and cell activity.
DHA has also proven in studies to play a crucial role in fetal development,
early infancy and old age, so it Is important to maintain adequate levels
throughout life. Increased concentrations of DHA are found in the brain of a
fetus during the last trimester of gestation, and that continues increasing from
300 to 500 percent until the child is born. Studies have indicated that adding
DHA to the diet of pregnant women can be beneficial to the development of the
child’s brain and functioning.
As we get older, our bodies naturally produce less DHA and EPA than we had in
our earlier years, but that doesn’t mean we don’t need it just as much.
Inadequate levels of DHA and EPA in the elderly can lead to loss of mental focus
and cognitive decline. More studies are underway to evaluate the relationship
between low levels of these fatty acids and conditions like Alzheimer’s and
dementia.
DHA and EPA also play a role in energy production, moisturizing the skin,
insulting the body against heat loss, and cushioning the tissues and organs.
Unlike many other supplements, you don’t necessarily need to test for a
deficiency before you can benefit from using Finest Pure Fish Oil by Pharmax. If
you consume the standard American diet, you are consuming way too much of the
inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids when compared to your consumption of omega-3
fatty acids. Experts recommend that the ratio be 1:1 (but it is often more like
25:1). Take a fish oil supplement to help restore the balance of omega fatty
acids in your body, which can reduce inflammation and provide a host of other
health benefits.

Fantastic!
By Sharon from Arizona on June 27, 2012
While the capsules are large, they are easy to swallow. This has always been a problem with fish oil products, but not with Finest Pure Fish Oil by Pharmax. I could feel the difference after taking Finest Pure Fish Oil for three weeks. I highly recommend it. Must be refrigerated.
Pros:
Works well, easy to swallow.
Cons:
Large capsules, but the shape is good, so it goes down easy.
I would recommend this item to a friend.

Recommended by our doctor
By Karen from Lexington, KY on December 31, 2010
Fish oil was one of the first things our doctor recommended for our then-13-year-old daughter, who had been diagnosed with multiple autoimmune issues. He insisted, however, that we be very careful about which fish oil we used as some, he said, could actually cause more harm than good. He recommended Pharmax and we have been using it now for more than five years. We have seen a tremendous improvement in her conditions and believe that at least some of that improvement can be attributed to the fish oil.
I would recommend this item to a friend.
Fish Oil Capsules Easy to Use
By Diane Karasevicz from New York on October 2, 2010
I switched to the Pharmax fish oil capsules after using the oil itself for a year or two. The capsules are much easier to use, less messy.
