Product Description

CoQ10 (ubiquinone) is a lipid-soluble antioxidant produced naturally in the body and plays an essential role in cellular respiration, ATP production and free radical scavenging. Recent research indicates it can even modulate gene expression. However, its reduced form—Ubiquinol—has proven to be more effective for increasing plasma levels of CoQ10 than Ubiquinone due to enhanced absorption as well superior antioxidant capacity per milligram dosage administered.

As we age, our bodies may struggle to convert ubiquinone into its more active form of CoQ10—ubiquinol. Recent studies have shown that a higher ratio of oxidized versus reduced CoQ10 can be indicative of the aging process and impaired glucose tolerance associated with it. Fortunately, clinical trials suggest switching from ubiquinone to Ubiquinol is connected not only with increased plasma levels but also improved cardiovascular functioning. Furthermore, due to greater induction in gene expression relating peroxisome proliferators activated receptor genes, this conversion has been found by research to possess powerful anti-inflammatory effects as well

Benefits
- Ubiquinol is a highly absorbable and bioavailable form of CoQ10
- Increases plasma levels of CoQ10 significantly more per mg compared to ubiquinone
- Allows for higher peak plasma levels of CoQ10 especially in those with intestinal damage
- Contains omega-3 fatty acid rich flax oil to enhance absorption
- KanekaQ10™ brand ubiquinol:
- The only yeast fermented CoQ10 and thus does not contain the impurities of synthetically processed CoQ10
- Has been used in the vast majority of all clinical trials over the past 30 years
- The CoQ10 with Self-Affirmed GRAS status (Generally Recognized As Safe) for use in foods and beverages
- Genetically Modified Organism free, allergen free and Kosher certified

Additional Information
CoQ10 introduction in patients on warfarin therapy should be done with caution as evidence suggests there may be an interaction between the two. Close monitoring of INR is recommended for these situations. Similarly, other drugs such as statins, tricyclic antidepressants and oral hypoglycemics are known to interfere with either synthesis or function of CoQ10 in the body - thus their usage alongside this supplement must also be carefully weighed up during decision making about treatment regimens.
