Product Description

Alaffia's Authentic African Black Soap is a time-honored home remedy, crafted with care using fair trade and organic unrefined shea butter and Orangutan friendly palm oil. After the hot oils are blended together with potent peppermint oil and plantain potash in an exacting six hour cooking process, they're left out to cure for three weeks under the sun - resulting in a uniquely calming cleanser that leaves your skin feeling soft, clarified, yet never dried-out or irritated - even if you have very sensitive skin! Free of sulfates too boot; this timeless formula feels like it was passed down through generations.

Alaffia's West African palm oil is sustainably produced in the Maritime region of Togo, from its vibrant town of Tsevie to Kpalime. Crafted by small-scale farmers through traditional methods and extracted at a Fair Trade cooperative in Sokodé, this ethical product supports environmental conservation as it does not contribute to deforestation or endangerment of animals like Orangutans. Although use of palm oil has long been a part of African agricultural practices, large-scale plantations are now threatening these small farms. Not only do they endanger the environment and wildlife that depend on them, but an important fact to consider is also that there are no Orangutans in Africa as native species.
