Ingredients:

  • 2-3 large beets
  • 2-3 of the beet greens (or spinach leaves)
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp. hemp seeds
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups orange juice

Directions:

  1. Remove the stems and leaves, and cut the beets into quarters.
  2. Cut the ends of the carrots, and chop them into smaller pieces.
  3. Boil the carrots and beets for 30 minutes to get them soft.
  4. Peel the skin off of the beets with a steak knife.
  5. Add half of the beets and half of the carrots to a blender (working in 2 batches).
  6. Pour 2 cups of water into your blender (use the water that was left over from the boiled beets!).
  7. Add 1/2 banana to the blender.
  8. Add turmeric, ginger, cinnamon powder, hemp seeds, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and leaves to the blender.
  9. Blend well.
  10. Pour half of the liquid into a jug (2 ½-3 liter jug or an empty juice container will work).
  11. Pour 2 cups of orange juice into the blender.
  12. Add the rest of the beets, carrots, and half of the banana to the blender.
  13. Blend again.
  14. Pour the liquid into the jug, and shake it well to incorporate the liquids.
  15. Place it in the fridge to cool, and enjoy the juice in the morning! (Always give it a shake before pouring.)
