  • Methylcobalamin is a tissue-ready form of vitamin B12. It supports cardiovascular function‚ normal sleep cycles‚ blood cell function‚ and nerve function.

Many vitamin B12 supplements contain cyanocobalamin as the active ingredient‚ which the liver must first "detoxify" and modify to form methylcobalamin – an active form of vitamin B12 that is essential for processes involved in cardiac function‚ sleep‚ blood cell formation‚ and nerve function. Thorne's Methylcobalamin provides vitamin B12 in its already biologically active and tissue-ready form. Clinical evidence indicates that the body uses methylcobalamin more efficiently than cyanocobalamin. Methylcoblamin helps maintain normal circadian rhythms to promote normal sleep and supports healthy methylation processes in the body.

Methylcobalamin is essential for the body to recycle homocysteine and to form the internal methyl donors involved in cardiovascular function‚ sleep‚ blood cell formation‚ and nerve function. Most vitamin B12 supplements contain cyanocobalamin; however‚ the liver must first "detoxify" the cyanide molecule in cyanocobalamin and then attach a methyl group to form methylcobalamin.

Although research shows the quantity of cobalamin detected following an oral dose of methylcobalamin is similar to the amount following administration of cyanocobalamin‚ significantly more cobalamin accumulates in liver tissue following administration of methylcobalamin. And the urinary excretion of methylcobalamin is about one-third that of a similar dose of cyanocobalamin‚ indicating substantially greater tissue retention of the former.

    Good product!

I was having issues with the soles of my feet burning, and a B-12 deficiency has been indicated as perhaps one of the causes. My integrative health doctor recommended trying Methylcobalamin by Thorne Research, after first ruling out other possible causes. I started out taking one 1mg cap a day and titrated up to four a day. After several months and good results on this regimen, I now only take two 1mg caps a day. Occasionally, I still may have a little burning, but, overall, I have been very pleased with the results.

    Pros

      Quality product.

    Cons

      High price.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

    Feeling great!

Thorne Research is a fabulous product line. I have been taking Methylcobalamin at the recommendation of my DO. As someone said below, if you feel better, then you know it's working. As a chronic lyme sufferer, I can definitely feel when something is and isn't working. I first started with the under the tongue tabs and then went to caps. I highly recommend Methylcobalamin.

    Trust this brand

I trust the Thorne brand for my other supplements but had continued to take a different brand of Methylcobalamin because it was much cheaper. The last time I ordered I decided to try the Thorne just to see if the additional cost was worth it. It definitely is! I can tell such a difference with these. Just wish they came in a 5 mg dosage so I didn't have to swallow 5 of them. Are you listening Thorne?? Please make a 5 mg capsule :-)

    Pros

Works much better than the other brands I have tried.

    Cons

I have to take 5 mg daily so have to swallow 5 capsules. It would be nice if Thorne made a 5 mg capsule.

Certain methylation cycles use Methylcobalamin better than others. If we dont have the right type of B-12s our digestive systems may not process it as well.

effective when you can not have b-12 sho

My insurance will not cover my B-12 injections so my dr. suggested Methylcobalamin dissolved under my tongue 2X per day until my nerve issues are better. They do a great job of picking me up and do not leave any negative aftertaste.
