Great value solution for my anemia!

I have chronically tested low on iron in my blood, and am finally convinced that I need to take a supplement, as clearly my dietary iron is not enough. I wanted chelated iron as it seems it is more usable to the body than other forms of supplemental iron. I thought about getting a more pricey one with vitamin C included, as vitamin C aids in iron absorption. However, I simply take Ferrochel Iron Chelate by Designs for Health with an orange, kiwi, mango, bell pepper, melon, berries, or some pineapple in the morning, and get my vitamin C with it that way. Iron gets absorbed best on an empty stomach (though that often causes stomach upset) so I eat it with an easily digested vitamin C rich food, as I mentioned above, and wait about 2 hours to have a heartier breakfast (like avocado on toasted sprouted bread - yum!). This bottle is a great value, equating to less than $5/month!

    Pros

Price/Value. Chelated form. Easy to swallow capsule.

    Cons

      Nothing.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

    Fantastic!

My mom's doctor ordered Ferrochel Iron Chelated by Designs for Health for her after routine labs came back critical resulting in her needing IV Iron and two units of blood. She has been on Ferrochel since then (approximately four years). Labs have been perfect and when last checked a few months ago, her new doctor said she has the lab results of a 20 year old (she was 87 at the time). No constipation at all. Tolerating very well. Wouldn't use anything else.

    Pros

It works and there's no side effects like constipation which is so common with other iron supplements.

    Cons

She has to take 6/day which can sometimes be a struggle with all of the other supplements she takes.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

    My Fave Iron!

I've taken a couple of different iron supplements over the past year or so, but Ferrochel Iron Chelate by Designs for Health one is my favorite so far and seems to be the most effective for me. My ND recommended iron because I'm deficient. This one is easily absorbed and less likely to cause any kind of GI upset (I haven't experienced any from it so far!). My energy levels have noticeably improved while taking this, so I'm sticking with it!

    Pros

Reasonably priced, no GI upset, effective

    Cons

Nothing that I can think of!

I would recommend this item to a friend.

    Best Iron Out There

I love Ferrochel Iron Chelate by Designs for Health. It is easy on the stomach and it doesn't bind me up like ferrous sulfate does. This also works to bring your ferritin levels up. The capsule is medium sized but it's easy to swallow. I can take this with or without food without any problems. The price is better here than it is through my doctor. Also, since you get 120 pills it's a three month supply; pretty cheap when you look at it that way.

    Pros

Price. Effectiveness. Easy on the stomach. Non constipating.

    Cons

      Nothing

I would recommend this item to a friend.

    Good Choice for IRON

Taking Ferrochel Iron Chelate by Designs for Health due to iron induced anemia and improved a lot of the symptoms without causing constipation. I decided to experiment after more than a year of taking daily, then started symptoms again. I'm reordering today and plan to keep taking Ferrochel Iron Chelate. I find it works and no side effects.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Is this a capsule or a tablet? If it's a capsule can it be opened and the powder mixed with food? If it's a tablet, can it be crushed and mixed in with food? Or does it need to be swallowed whole? Thanks!
