  • The main ingredient in Thorne Research’s Choleast is a red-pigmented yeast called Monascus purpureus that is grown on rice. Many studies have shown that this red yeast may support heart health when added to a healthy diet and lifestyle.

The yeast in Choleast contains naturally occurring substances called monacolins and phytosterols campesterol‚ sigmasterol and beta-sitosterol.

At least 15 mg of CoQ10 is in each capsule of Choleast. Coenzyme Q10 is necessary for basic cell functioning‚ but the body’s levels of it naturally decline with age. Those with a CoQ10 deficiency may notice changes in memory and cognitive function. Supplementing with CoQ10 can enhance antioxidant activity‚ thus reducing harmful lipid oxidation in the body.

Thorne Research goes to great lengths to ensure that each capsule only contains minimal amounts of citrinin‚ an unavoidable mycotoxin that comes as a result of the fermentation process. Mycotoxins‚ which can be found in larger quantities in many competing products‚ may cause inflammation and other undesirable side effects. Under testing‚ Choleast was found to contain less than 1/20 of the standard rates of citrinin found in red yeast rice products.

Choleast also contains higher concentrations of naturally occurring monacolins. Some competitors may reach similar levels‚ but they do so through fortification (adding monacolins after the fermentation process). Choleast is produced to be in compliance with GMP regulations‚ so that means you can trust the strength‚ composition‚ identity and purity of each ingredient.

Each bottle of Choleast contains 120 vegetarian capsules in order to promote cardiovascular wellbeing.

Thorne Research strives to provide pure‚ high-quality supplements to people looking to enhance their health and well-being. Its products are commonly used in prestigious research studies‚ and are recommended by many doctors and health care practitioners. The company always goes the extra mile to ensure that Thorne Research dietary supplements are safe and effective for immune-compromised‚ allergic‚ and chemically sensitive patients.

Dosage of 600 mg per capsule

Beth in Illinois in Dec 2014 writes the manufacturer changed contents from 2.4 gm to 600 mg. It has been 600 mg at least for the past 8 years since a Naturopathic doctor recommended I take it. The recommended dosage was 2.4 mg taken in divided doses twice a day, that is, 2 in the morning and 2 at night. Brought my cholesterol down from 265 to 162.

    Pros

      That it works!

    Cons

      Nothing

I would recommend this item to a friend.

Choleast works well to lower cholesterol

This product really works. Unfortunately, the manufacturer changed the way they make it. The strength of the product went from 2.4 g to 600 mg of Red Yeast Rice, requiring me to take more capsules. It isn't cheap, but is better than having to take a statin drug.

    Pros

      It works!

    Cons

Dosage is small; price is relatively high.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

    Choleast

Choleast by Thorne Research is a great product recommended by my doctor to help keep my cholesterol down. I have used Choleast since 2004 and have done very well with it and will continue to use it.

    Pros

Choleast works! Like the fact it has CoQ10 added to this red yeast rice product which is recommended when taking red yeast rice. Both in one capsule.

    Cons

      No dislikes

I would recommend this item to a friend.

    Effective herbal substitute for statins

Choleast by Thorne research keeps my cholesterol and triglycerides under control. I did not want to use Crestor which had unacceptable side effects.

    Thorne Choleast

Taking the Choleast  by Thorne Research has prevented me from taking statins which can have terrible, permanent side effects, for the past 5 years. ALL my cholesterol numbers have dropped and gotten within normal limits.. I have recommended choleast to friends to ask their doctors to switch from the statins. Most all Natualpathic physicians will recommend red rice yeast especially the choleast by Thorne as it is the purest form of red yeast rice to take.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

I may have hypercholesterolemia. Citrinin, a mycotoxin.....more on its inflammatory effect. I've had chronic, systemic inflammation for 20 years; have used many supplements, dietary changes and now bio-identical hormones to address this inflammation. If I took Choleast how might it effect me in inflammation terms????
