Physician recommended for Colitis and IBS
June 25, 2014
I love this product. After years of progressing GI issues and a recent suggested diagnosis of colitis, I researched medical journals and colon-related blogs for the BEST probiotic for these disorders. I heard over and over again that VSL#3 is the recommended probiotic for Colitis, Crohns & IBS. Now, severe flareups often require a prescription of the very high dosage. But, if you read this product's suggested dosage, it is recommended to simply increase dosage if needed. For anyone with these conditions, I would recommend seeing a physician of course, but also to read the medical research about probiotics. For moderate symptoms, I take 1 a day. For a flareup of symptoms (such as a food-related flareup), I will take 2. The dosage on the bottle even suggests 4 a day for severe symptoms. I love that I can self-prescribe this probiotic based on how I feel without worry that too much is bad. Due to the fact that all probiotics have different strains of the good bacteria, I also use another brand to supplement wit this one. Btw, when ordering, there is overnight shipping options due to refrigeration needed. I did no expedite the shipment but just refrigerated upon arrival. Perhaps it is not a good idea to order standard shipping in the summer or you may lose effectiveness.
Pros:Highest quality, physician recommended
Cons:Can be costly but PureFormulas has best cost.
