Good product, but overwhelming scent in the shower
June 11, 2014
I was thrilled to discover that PureFormulas carries the 2 oz version of this product because I am hypersensitive to scents and wanted to try a few before committing to a large bottle. Aside from containing mostly organic and fair trade ingredients, tea tree oil has a natural antibacterial quality. Turns out it's a good thing I ordered the 2 oz bottle. I'd forgotten how little I like the scent of tea tree oil. If you're not familiar, it's similar to eucalyptus but not as pleasant (in my opinion). Dr. Bronner's uses pure tea tree oil so this soap has a very strong odor. However, it smells exactly as it should. The scent is not a product defect, it's just not my favorite.
Having also purchased the tea tree oil hand soap (the more fool I), I would hazard a guess these products are almost exactly the same. The hand soap has an added ingredient, but I don't notice a difference between the two. I think I could just as easily use this soap as hand soap.
It does leave my skin feeling clean and it's not drying. I like the natural protection offered by the tea tree oil, but I find the tea tree oil scent much more tolerable as a hand soap rather than an all over body soap.
I'll dump this little bottle into the pump bottle to use as hand soap. It's just too much for me in the shower. If you enjoy the scent of tea tree oil, you'll love it.
Pros:High-quality, organic, fair trade ingredients
Safe and natural antibacterial effect
Cleansing without being drying
