BURDOCK – Arctium lappa L.: It enhances the immune system. In general, burdock will move the body to a state of integration and health, improving indicators of systemic balance. It is a general alterative: influences skin, kidneys, mucous and serous membranes, to remove accumulated waste products. It is specific for the head, face and neck, and for acute irritability and inflammatory conditions.


Safety Considerations: Potentially, Burdock may cause allergic reactions in people sensitive to the Asteraceae family.


CHINESE RHUBARB – Rheum palmatum L: The herb has a truly cleansing action upon the gut, as it first removes debris and then astringes the system with antiseptic properties. It is a mild stimulating tonic to alimentary mucous membrane, liver and gall ducts – removes viscid mucus.


SHEEP SORREL – Rumex acetosella L: Sheep sorrel is a popular ingredient of many folk remedies and the tea was used traditionally as a diuretic and to treat fevers, inflammation and scurvy. Sheep sorrel was considered the most active herb in Essiac for stimulating cellular regeneration, detoxification and cleansing, based on reports by Rene Caisse. Sheep sorrel contains significant levels of phytoestrogens with notable estrogen receptor binding activity. It has strong health restorative properties.
