For as long as I can remember, I have suffered from constipation--when I was a little kid, I had prune juice with breakfast while the rest of my family had orange juice, and I thought it was because I preferred the taste! Over the past 25 years I have been taking psyllium seed husk powder before dinner--or after, if I eat away from home--daily, and have had no problems with constipation...except when my supply runs out or when I am traveling and have not packed it. I used to stir a spoonful of the powder in a glass of water, but have found over the past 5 years that taking it in capsule form is both more convenient and more efficient--I no longer have leftover unused psyllium seed husk powder lining the glass. I found out about this when I was working at a holistic health center where both an acupuncturist and a nutritionist recommended it. I order it in large quantities now so I'll be sure not to run out!
