Helps lower Lp(a) cholesterol
September 4, 2013
I'm taking Niacin because Dr. Stephen Sinatra, the famous integrative cardiologist, recommends it for lowering the very bad type of cholesterol known as Lp(a). Mine is slightly high and he recommends taking between 1 to 3 grams daily to lower it, but he recommends starting off very low with 100 mg. daily and slowly working up to get the body accustomed to it due to the famous "niacin flush." If you haven't taken niacin before and start, you will soon find out what the flush is! The first time I took Niacin I had no idea what was going on, and it was very alarming. My body turned beet red and my skin itched and felt very tight. The flush lasts about an hour. But to get the health benefits, you need to take regular (not "no-flush") niacin according to Dr. Sinatra, so start low and take it right after a meal to help with the flushing.
Pros:I trust Source Naturals brand.
