You may make sure to eat healthy foods and take beneficial supplements‚ but how do you know if your body is fully processing the nutrients you give it every day? Magnesium can help‚ because it works within the body to metabolize many other nutrients‚ including calcium‚ vitamin E‚ and potassium; this allows your body to effectively store and use them. Magnesium is a metabolic powerhouse responsible for over 300 biochemical reactions in your body. In fact‚ it’s the eleventh-most abundant element in your body‚ essential to all living cells.
Healthy levels of magnesium can positively affect numerous aspects of your well-being. Unfortunately‚ some people—especially teenagers and the elderly—may be at risk for a magnesium deficiency.
Most of the magnesium in your body is stored in your bones‚ and regular intake of this mineral is critical for skeletal health. In some studies‚ magnesium supplementation has been shown to increase bone mineralization‚ which is the strengthening and solidification of the bone as it develops. It can also promote heart health by supporting its ability to pump blood efficiently. Finally‚ your body needs magnesium for proper muscle functioning and regulating your mood.
Including vitamin C in a supplement may increase absorption of magnesium. Pure Encapsulations’ Magnesium (Citrate/Malate) Vegetable Capsules provide both. Magnesium and vitamin C work together to aid in healthy heart function‚ while magnesium often counters the potential for stomach irritation by buffering vitamin C's acidic qualities.
Each bottle of Magnesium (Citrate/Malate) by Pure Encapsulations contains 90 capsules. When taken at the recommended dose of one to four capsules daily with meals‚ it should last from one to three months.
Pure Encapsulations seeks to formulate and manufacture high-quality‚ hypo-allergenic dietary supplements. Quality control during the formulation and manufacturing process is paramount. All Pure Encapsulations products are made with the most bioavailable ingredients possible.
Each vegetable capsule contains:
Magnesium (citrate/malate) ......................................................... 120 mg.
Vitamin C (as ascorbyl palmitate) ................................................... 10 mg.
Pure Encapsulations recommends 1–4 capsules per day‚ in divided doses‚ with meals.
Are There Any Potential Side Effects Or Precautions?
Adverse effects from magnesium supplementation are rare when taken as directed‚ but can include gastrointestinal upset and diarrhea. Individuals with kidney disease should not take magnesium supplements without
consulting a doctor. Magnesium glycinate is less likely to cause loose stools. If pregnant or lactating‚ consult your physician before taking this product.
Are There Any Potential Drug Interactions?
Magnesium should be taken separately from bisphosphonate medications. Caution should be taken with concurrent use of potassium-sparing diuretics. It may also be contraindicated with certain antibiotics. Consult your
physician for more information.
