    Havent used it yet but...

First off I could not detect a gingery smell when I opened the sealed bottle but maybe thats how it is with Ginger. I did get it for its medicinal effect not for the smell (as Ive gotten others such as: Orange Lemon Lime etc). Im a big fan of Now Essential oils. So far all the Now EOs Ive tested have passed the "construction paper test". Put a drop of the essential oil on a piece of construction paper and let it dry for hours and when its totally dry there should be no spot on the paper. Another tip I notice that the Now EO droppers release the oil drops quite quickly from the bottle In the past Ive gotten Essential Oils from other companies and it was (exaggeration to come) and aerobic experience :) to get a drop out of those bottles. So be aware of that with the Now EOs especially when doing a recipe and you need to specifically measure out the drops. It can move quickly.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

    NOW Ginger Oil

This oil is more subdued then the sharp ginger scents most people are used to. Its not a bad thing just dont expect this to be a bright crisp ginger. Its deeper and earthier its much more of a base tone really. I would certainly recommend this to anyone who doesnt necessarily like the strong ginger scents and it mixes well with mints citrus and rosemary without competing with them it easily mingles with other scents and oils.

I would recommend this item to a friend.

How is it so differnet that fresh root?

Ginger Oil is a great aromatic oil but something about it just doesnt seem right. Its aromatic and functional up to a level yes but it has a completely different energy than fresh ginger and more of a difference than any other fresh herb/oil Ive ever known. I like fresh ginger externally to create penetrating warmth and to clear stagnation. For example a hot ginger compress on the abdomen is great for constipation. This oil would probably serve a similar function but the whole time I would be wondering what the heck plant I am using!

    Pros

    Cons

it doesnt feel like its ginger at all perhaps only very mildly.
