Enzymes are proteins that quicken the rate at which chemical reactions occur within your body. Without enzymes, your food would be digested very slowly; this means that your muscles, bones, and nerves would fail to work properly. Many of
the enzymes present in your body are contained within your digestive system. Here, different enzymes work to break down different food groups. The enzyme pepsin, for example, breaks down protein-rich foods, while the enzyme lipase
breaks down fatty foods.
While enzymes are made by your body, they're also found in food. Bromelain, which contains a range of enzymes that break down proteins, is present in small doses in the stem and juice of pineapples. Since it’s nearly
impossible to take in enough bromelain through your diet, this enzyme is available in the form of a supplement.
Bromelain 750 mg by Metabolic Maintenance helps boost your levels of this important enzyme, since it’s the only active
ingredient. Each capsule gives you 750 mg of this enzyme. When taken with food, this supplement may improve poor digestion and relieve associated symptoms like stomach pain, cramping, and bloating. When taken on an empty stomach, bromelain
may also be useful in alleviating inflammation and muscle pain often associated with injuries and infections.
Studies have shown that bromelain may also work to reduce swelling, bruising, and pain following dental surgery, foot surgery, and
surgery of the ear, nose, or throat. It may also lessen mild joint pain or stiffness. Ask your doctor about taking this supplement if you're currently taking blood thinners, since bromelain has blood thinning effects.
One container
of Metabolic Maintenance’s Bromelain 750 mg contains 60 capsules, which will last you for two months. Take one capsule a day, unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Metabolic Maintenance vitamins and supplements are time-tested and
physician-approved. All products are truly excipient-free, meaning that they have no fillers like cellulose or silicon dioxide that other manufacturers often add to products. Using only the purest ingredients and cutting-edge medical
technologies, Metabolic Maintenance vitamins and supplements come in tinted glass bottles to best store them without losing their potency and effectiveness.

I take on an empty stomach for inflammation
By songbird from Hilo, HI on April 11, 2011
The naturopath recommended this for me over a year ago (she said to take 2/day...a total of 1500mg.) It must be taken on an empty stomach when using it for inflammation. It really helps with chronic myofascial pain and inflammation that comes with it. When I stop taking it, I notice a difference in how my body feels. Even my husband takes it from time to time, instead of Ibuprofen, and he seems to like it. But I think with most herbs, you have to take daily for a few weeks to notice a difference.
Pros:
vegetarian capsules, preservative-free, 2400 GDU, 750 mg, a high mg so can take less times/day.
Cons:
can be expensive. Glass jar is heavy, makes shipping costly.
I would recommend this item to a friend.
Amazing product.

I have a phytobeazor and this is breaking it up. The option was being totally sedated and having it snared up during yet another endoscopy. It has helped my stomach and I feel so much better. The price is great also. I love my Naturopathic physician but this is so much less expensive I had to order here.
