5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan) is an intermediate metabolite between the amino acid L-tryptophan and serotonin; 5-HTP is serotonin's immediate intracellular precursor. Serotonin is associated with positive mood and provides a substrate for the production of melatonin. * 5-HTP is extracted from the bean of the African plant Griffonia simplicifolia, a natural vegetable source.

I have been cutting down on my intake of Zoloft which I have been on for more than 15 years. This product works in conjunction with the loser dosage of Zoloft and is helping wean me off of Zoloft for good. I am very happy with the results as I am not feeling the absence of the Zoloft in my system.
